A United States-bound flight was diverted to Canada after a passenger who had recently traveled from an Ebola-affected region was mistakenly allowed to board, triggering a mid-air health alert and precautionary response from authorities.

According to initial reports, the individual was not supposed to be on the flight due to established health screening protocols tied to the ongoing outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease in parts of Africa. Airline officials said the boarding occurred “in error,” prompting swift action once the situation was identified.

The aircraft was redirected to a Canadian airport, where public health officials and emergency response teams met the flight upon landing. The passenger in question was isolated for medical evaluation, while other passengers and crew were assessed in line with international health safety guidelines.

Authorities emphasized that the diversion was a precautionary measure and that there was no immediate confirmation that the individual was infected with Ebola. Health officials also noted that established containment and screening procedures were quickly activated to minimize any potential risk.

The incident has raised questions about the effectiveness of travel screening systems and coordination between airlines and health authorities, particularly during ongoing outbreaks.

Passengers onboard the flight experienced delays as officials carried out necessary health checks, but no further risks have been publicly confirmed.

Health agencies continue to stress that while Ebola is a serious disease, it is not easily transmitted without direct contact with bodily fluids, and standard protocols are designed to prevent widespread exposure during travel.
