FATHER AND TWO SONS KILLED IN PLATEAU STATE ATTACK

A father and his two sons were brutally killed in Zogu village, Miango District, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. The victims, identified as 56-year-old Weyi Gebeh, and his sons, 25-year-old Zhu Weyi and 16-year-old Henry Weyi, were killed while they were asleep.
The spokesperson of Irigwe Development Association, Sam Jugo, confirmed the incident, describing it as “barbaric”. This recent attack brings the total number of deaths recorded this week to nine. “The leadership of Irigwe Development Association has been notified of yet another attack on Zogu village, Miango which claimed the lives of a father and two of his sons,” Jugo said.

The community leader expressed utmost displeasure over the deteriorating situation in Irigwe land and called on security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators. “The way criminal elements invade our motherland and kill with impunity seems to suggest a more sinister motive than mere reprisals,” Jugo added.
The Irigwe Development Association has urged the Plateau State government and security agencies to take immediate action to stop the killing of innocent people in the area. “IDA therefore, calls on the Plateau State government and the security to do the needful and stop the killing of innocent people in Irigwe land,” Jugo emphasized.

This incident is the latest in a string of violent attacks in Plateau State, which has been plagued by recurring violence and insecurity. Civil Society Organizations in the state have demanded the withdrawal of military personnel, citing their ineffectiveness in curbing the violence.
