Paul Desmond Sanders Doyle, 53, from West Derby in Liverpool, has been charged with seven offenses related to a car crash in Liverpool on Monday that injured 79 people, including four children. Doyle faces six charges related to grievous bodily harm and one count of dangerous driving. The charges include: – *Two counts of unlawful and malicious wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm* – *Two counts of causing unlawful and malicious grievous bodily harm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm* – *Two counts of attempted unlawful and malicious grievous bodily harm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm* – *One count of dangerous driving* Doyle, a father-of-three and former Royal Marine, is believed to have served in the 1990s. He is also a local businessman and will appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Friday for an initial hearing. According to Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS Mersey-Cheshire, Sarah Hammond, “The investigation is at an early stage. Prosecutors and police are continuing to work at pace to review a huge volume of evidence, including multiple pieces of video footage and numerous witness statements.” Assistant Chief Constable Jenny Sims said detectives are reviewing a “huge volume” of CCTV and mobile phone footage and are “extremely grateful” for the cooperation of the public. “We ask that the judicial process be allowed to continue without any speculation online or anywhere else that could impede the pursuit of justice for all those affected,” she added. The incident occurred near the route of a victory parade being held to celebrate Liverpool FC’s Premier League title, with eyewitnesses describing the moment a car hit dozens of people. Police believe the driver may have followed an ambulance into the street after a temporary roadblock was lifted. Seven people remain in the hospital, with ages ranging from 9 to 78 years old. Doyle’s neighbours described him as a “normal person” and a “nice fella” who often walked his dog and spent time with his family.
