AVIATION PERM SEC COMMENDS NAMA’S COMMITMENT TO SAFETY, EFFICIENCY OF AIR TRAVEL

The newly appointed Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, has commended the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) for its critical role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of air navigation in the country. Dr. Kana described NAMA’s role as “very strategic and pivotal in the nation’s economic development”. During his working tour of NAMA’s corporate headquarters in Abuja, Dr. Kana praised the agency’s staff for their teamwork, dedication, and commitment to achieving organizational objectives. “Teamwork is the foundation of success, and your dedication will continue to propel NAMA to greater heights,” he stated. Dr. Kana noted that NAMA’s vision aligns with the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo’s strategic goals for the aviation sector, which are also in sync with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mandate to elevate the aviation industry. The Managing Director/Chief Executive of NAMA, Engr Ahmed Umar Farouk, expressed gratitude for Dr. Kana’s visit and highlighted some of the challenges facing the organization, including funding for critical navigational infrastructure. Engr Farouk revealed plans to commence work on the building of NAMA’s corporate headquarters at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport, Abuja, with the groundbreaking ceremony to be performed by the Honourable Minister. Dr. Kana acknowledged the challenges posed by the fluctuating dollar exchange rate and reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing funding challenges in the sector. He pledged to collaborate with the Honourable Minister to secure necessary funding to support NAMA’s projects.
