PETER OBI REAFFIRMS 2027 PRESIDENTIAL BID WITH ADC, REJECT VP ROLE

Former Presidential candidate and key figure in the African Democratic Congress, former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi has officially declared his candidacy for the 2027 presidential election. He made this declaration while campaigning for ADC candidates in the Federal Capital Territory’s Area Council elections, emphasizing his determination to vie for the top position. According to the former governor, success in the Abuja Municipal Area Council election is crucial to his wider political aspirations. He urged party faithful and local residents to support the ADC candidate, stressing that his involvement is as a leading contender. “I am involved and contesting the coming election as number one,” he stated, adding that he would not settle for a subordinate role in the party’s long-term strategy. Obi expressed confidence in his ability to lead, citing his experience and achievements. His supporters, particularly members of the Obidient Movement, are pressuring the ADC leadership to adopt him as the party’s sole standard-bearer for 2027. Many insist that the presidential ticket should be his alone. However, the ADC is also hosting other high-profile politicians with presidential ambitions, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi. With Obi’s declaration, the 2027 presidential election is shaping up to be a closely contested race. As the ADC prepares to unveil its candidate, Obi’s supporters will be eager to see if he can secure the party’s nomination.

PETER OBI CHALLENGES ECOWAS OVER PERCEIVED DOUBLE STANDARDS ON ELECTION GLITCHES

Labour Party leader and 2023 Presidential standard-bearer, Peter Obi, has reacted to the Economic Community of West African States’ condemnation of the recent military coup disruption in Guinea-Bissau, accusing the regional body of double standards. Obi questioned why ECOWAS remained silent on the technology glitch that marred Nigeria’s 2023 election while being quick to condemn the military-arranged glitch in Guinea-Bissau. Writing on his X handle on Sunday in an article titled ‘Reflecting on the ‘Coup Glitches’ in Guinea-Bissau’, the foremost opposition leader stated that glitches of any type should be condemned because they undermine democracy. He recounted his distress upon learning that former President Goodluck Jonathan was caught up in the reported coup situation in Guinea-Bissau, where he was serving as an election monitor. Obi revealed that he immediately reached out to Jonathan, who assured him of his safety. The Labour Party leader noted that he was further relieved to hear that Jonathan had returned safely to Nigeria. Obi said he listened carefully to Jonathan’s press briefing about the incident, where the former president noted that the so-called coup appeared suspicious, especially because it was the president himself who announced the coup and shared details with the international community. Obi highlighted that the situation was particularly striking because the election was reportedly peaceful, with the only remaining step being the formal announcement of the results. He drew a parallel between the two nations’ electoral challenges, stating, “It is safe to say that while Nigeria’s own election was marred by a ‘technical glitch,’ the election in Guinea-Bissau seems to have suffered from a ‘coup glitch.’ Yet, to this day, no one has clearly explained the nature of Nigeria’s glitch.” The former presidential candidate directly challenged ECOWAS’s inconsistent approach, asking, “ECOWAS was quick to sanction Guinea-Bissau, but what does ECOWAS do when democracy is subverted not by soldiers, but by technology? What is the punishment for countries that announce ‘glitches’ at critical moments during an election? Do we only condemn coups that are visible with guns and ignore those carried out through a designed technological failure?” Obi emphasized that whether technical or political, these challenges can undermine democracy, hinder progress, and obstruct the rights of African citizens to freely elect their leaders. He asserted that true democracy flourishes in environments of transparency and accountability, where the voice of the people is paramount and not interrupted by unforeseen glitches or political maneuverings. He concluded by stating that the Guinea-Bissau scenario represents two faces of the same crisis, where in one case ballots are discarded by force and in another ballots are obstructed by convenient technical issues. “In both cases, the people suffer, democracy is undermined, and the region sinks deeper into instability. The outcome remains the same: the citizens are denied their mandate,” Obi stated. He reaffirmed his belief that a New Nigeria is possible through addressing these issues constructively.

US DESIGNATION OF NIGERIA AS A COUNTRY OF PARTICULAR CONCERN IS A WAKE-UP CALL, SAYS PETER OBI

Peter Obi, the former Presidential candidate, has stated that the recent pronouncement by the US government declaring Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) and indicating possible military action should give every well-meaning Nigerian serious concern. Obi expressed deep alarm over the situation, emphasizing the unprecedented level of insecurity in the nation. Obi stated, “There is no doubt that Nigeria is experiencing an unprecedented level of insecurity with attendant carnage and the most shocking loss of lives and property.” He cited Amnesty International reports that over 10,000 people have been killed in Nigeria since May 2023. “As I have repeatedly lamented, the unwarranted and unprovoked killing of Nigerians is most condemnable, and all efforts must be made to bring it to a stop,” Obi said. He further noted that “the terrible situation is significantly avoidable with competent leadership and governance.” While acknowledging that the insecurity did not start with the present government, Obi directed strong criticism at the current administration. “What is most unfortunate is the lack and absence of competence, commitment, prudent use of resources, patriotism and passion on the part of APC-led government/leaders to effectively govern, galvanise and lead Nigeria where no one is unwarrantedly oppressed and killed, a Nation where peace, truth and justice reign!” he declared. Highlighting the diplomatic relationship between the two nations, Obi described Nigeria and the US as strategic partners committed to regional peace and security. “That relationship should not falter,” he urged. He called for a measured response, stating, “The present situation calls for constructive diplomatic and any other plausible engagement by both nations aimed at addressing the prevailing and disturbing security concerns.” Obi concluded by insisting that “both countries must work in concert and expeditiously towards that purpose.”

PETER OBI UNDERSCORES FAITH IN NIGERIA’S FUTURE AFTER ROME PILGRIMAGE

Former Nigerian presidential aspirant Peter Obi has emerged from a spiritual pilgrimage in Rome with renewed conviction in Nigeria’s prospects, stressing interplay of divine mercy and human responsibility for national transformation. Obi and wife undertook journey Rome’s sacred sites during Jubilee Year dedicating prayers Nigeria’s forgiveness, healing amid 65 years independence challenges. “Despite our differences… He has kept us together as one nation – a rare and profound blessing,” Obi expressed gratitude. Traversing Papal Basilicas’ Holy Doors – St. Mary Major, St. Paul Outside Walls (welcomed Cardinal James Harvey), St. John Lateran – couple beseeched God’s Nigeria mercy opening. Scala Sancta ascent underscored reverence. “Implored God intervene Nigerian suffering… prayed selfless, compassionate leaders touch hearts God—truthful, altruistic, serving common good,” Obi disclosed Wednesday Papal Audience St. Peter’s hearing Pope Leo XIV Catechesis hope hardship. Audience Pope granted St. Peter’s; Obi pleaded Nigeria prayers. Faith walk yielded fellowship Nigerian pilgrims’ quiet hope. “Together renewed trust God’s mercy promising renewed Nigeria,” Obi recounted. Obi cautioned against fatalism balancing faith action. “Faith doesn’t absolve responsibility; calls action. Nigerians do part—honesty, diligence, love—healing progress country. A new Nigeria possible,” he affirmed. Reflecting Rome spiritual sojourn depth Obi conveyed optimism Nigeria brighter path aligning divine providence purposeful citizenry endeavour.

NIGERIA’S LEADERS MOURN TRAGIC DEATH OF ARISE NEWS ANCHOR SOMTOCHUKWU CHRISTELLE MADUAGWU

Nigeria’s prominent figures have paid tribute to Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, a 29-year-old news anchor with Arise News Media, who tragically lost her life on Monday in Abuja. Sommie, as she was fondly called, jumped from the balcony of her Katampe residence in a desperate bid to escape suspected armed robbers. First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu described Maduagwu as “one of the nation’s young and brilliant minds in the journalism profession”, expressing sorrow that her life was “cut short in her prime”. In her condolence message, she extended sympathies to Arise News Media Chairman Chief Nduka Obaigbena, Somtochukwu’s family, friends and colleagues, hoping “the perpetrators are apprehended as soon as possible and brought to book”. The First Lady prayed “God grant repose to the soul of the deceased and gives her family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss”. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar expressed deep sadness over the incident, stating “I wish to express my deepest condolences to the family of Ms. Somtochukwu Maduagwu, an Arise TV newscaster who was killed in an armed robbery attack in Abuja”. Atiku extended condolences to Arise News management and staff, praying “the family, friends and colleagues be comforted by this loss at such a very young age”. 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi hailed Maduagwu as “a brilliant young anchor and trained lawyer whose voice engaged, informed, and inspired many”. Obi noted her passing was “not just a personal loss to her family and colleagues but a huge blow to journalism and to our nation”. He stressed citizens’ safety must be prioritised, saying “No Nigerian should go to bed fearful of what the night may bring, or lose their life in such senseless ways”. Obi conveyed thoughts and prayers to Sommie’s grieving family, Arise News, and all mourning her, stating “May her soul rest in peace, and may we, as a nation, work harder to build a country where lives are valued and protected”.

PETER OBI THREATENS TO SUE DEJI ADEYANJU OVER ALLEGED DEFAMATION

Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has threatened to sue activist Deji Adeyanju over alleged defamatory remarks shared across various social media platforms. Obi’s lawyer, Alex Ejesieme (SAN), accused Adeyanju of consistently making “false and malicious” allegations against his client. The allegations include claims that Obi funneled Anambra State funds into family ventures, attempted to bribe Adeyanju after a private meeting, and exploited religion during the 2023 election campaign. Obi’s lawyers dismissed these assertions as “false, malicious, and contrived,” stressing that none were grounded in fact. Obi is demanding that Adeyanju remove the alleged defamatory contents, issue public apologies across his social media accounts, and publish retractions in three national newspapers. Failure to meet these conditions within seven days would leave Obi with no choice but to file a lawsuit seeking aggravated damages, legal cost recovery, and an injunction to prevent further defamation. “The statements have been widely disseminated, causing untold damage to our client’s reputation and integrity,” the letter read in part. Adeyanju has responded, saying he is ready to meet Obi in court. “I can’t wait to meet him in court finally. A fraud parading himself as a messiah,” Adeyanju stated. Adeyanju also referred to Obi as “the leader of a mob” and “a scum,” which Obi’s lawyers believe were calculated to depict him as an anarchist and divisive figure. Obi’s legal team insists that the suit serves as a warning that defamatory commentary will not be tolerated and will attract serious consequences under the law.

OSELOKA OBI AND THE SWIM IN THE MUD BY THE MOST INCORRIGIBLE GANG OF SYCOPHANTS.

They see a dysfunctional Nigeria and say their god is making Nigeria better. So blind and distant from Truth that one wonders what specie of the humanoid they are. They steal resources they do not need in ten lifetimes and the sycophants say their god is spending on infrastructure. How terribly soulless they are. They inflate budgets in Billions and Trillions and the jesters say their god is investing in infrastructure more than any administration in our nation’s history. And one wonders whether these rambunctious jesters and sycophants live on Mars or Jupiter. The National Assembly pads and inflates budgets in trillions, by six or seven trillion and the Execu-Thieves are okay with it because they along with the Legis-Looters are manifestly inextricably united in thieving. All they do is plunder our collective patrimony to the sordid applause of soulless sycophants. Before us is a Republic where the Stockholm Syndrome is fad. The Ministers are in competition, all trying to out-budget and out-loot each other. The infrastructure they mouth and credit to their god are more on paper than real. Trouble your head if you care to name ‘their ongoing projects’ and the blindfold they weave over you may just break. They lie about everything and anything to make their god look good BUT Nigerians are not blind. We see the Truth for what it is, in the saddle is the most corrupt, the most uneventful, the most underperforming, and the most criminally minded government Nigeria has ever seen. Na me talk am, and na the TRUTH. They try so hard to gaslight the people, they try so hard to deceive the gullible, they try so hard to blindfold the simple, sadly the more they try the more we unmask them. The more they try the more we deploy the weapon of Truth against their perfidy and debauchery. Na im dey pain dem pass. These sycophants swimming in the mud of their sycophancy must therefore weave a no brainer, how does Oseloka Obi who is neither a Politician nor a Player in the Nigerian political space become a Trophy in the muddy and murky turf of blackmail politics that define them? Are they so mortally low that their politics is bereft of decorum and decency? Why dem no dey shame at all? How those whose god is a certified druggy, a certified certificate forger, a certified age cheat and forger, a certified election rigger, a certified looter, and a certified liar think that to colour Oseloka Obi as gay will mitigate the utterly despicable low that their god has brought Nigeria, I yet cannot fathom. They are desperate to change the discouse from serious issues of leadership failure to gossip. But we no go allow dem. Nigeria has never seen the level of moral decay that the present watch has brought upon us. Nigeria has never seen this level of bigotry and nepotism. Nigeria has never seen grave falsehood from Government Houses and offices as obtains today. It is so Olympic that debauchery and deceit has become an Act of State. All they do is lie, plunder, and lie. In making Peter Gregory Obi’s son the issue they want to drag all of us in the mud of their senselessly low politics. They want to elevate blackmail, libel, slander and scandal to the ‘lofty’ pedestal albeit an ignoble one that they have accorded falsehood BUT they will fail. If they have nothing laudable and credible to say about their god and cannot shut up, must they seek to drag everyone in the mud? If they cannot ask their god the Looter-In-Chief and the Divider-In-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to do right must they attempt to colour everyone wrong? We are vigilant and we shall suffer no fools gladly as we continue to organize until we birth and berth a new Nigeria. If they like they can continue to swim in the mud BUT one thing is certain A NEW NIGERIA is Possible. God Bless Nigeria. Prof Chris Mustapha Nwaokobia JnrConvener COUNTRYFIRST MOVEMENT. 2027 POLL: AS IN 2023, OBI LEADS ‘CAMPAIGN’ FOR PRESIDENT

By Ehichioya Ezomon About 19 months to the next General Election, it looks as if the franchise is weeks or even days away. What with heightened activities in the polity, headlined by alignments and realignments of majorly opposition politicians and parties in their quest to “remove” President Bola Tinubu and his ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from power in 2027 Apart from the drumbeats by stakeholders for re-election of Tinubu, who’s only shown interest by body language, an early bird in the bid for president is former Anambra State Governor and candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 poll, Mr Peter Obi. Ahead of the rollout of activities for the election, Obi’s practically kickstarted campaigns for 2027, tweaking only his strategy as political exigencies demand, but following the 2023 cycle playbook when he shredded the formbook to place third in the declaration of the poll results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).  Below, abridged only for dates, is a recap of those strategy and playbook – published under the caption, “Why Obi blazes trail of 2023 polls,” in my Monday column of August 29, 2022 – to serve as a guide to how Obi approaches the 2027 election. Happy reading: “Barely six months to the February (2023) presidential election, contenders for the position have virtually yielded the field to candidate Peter Obi and his platform, the Labour Party.“The candidates of other major parties: All Progressives Congress, Peoples Democratic Party and the New Nigeria Peoples Party appear to have no stake in the polls. “What Nigerians read, watch or hear in the media is, Peter Obi’s here, Peter Obi’s there, and Peter Obi’s everywhere, as if the former Anambra State governor is ubiquitous.“But he’s not! Unlike the rest candidates posturing for president, Obi’s seeming “ubiquity” is located in the seriousness he attaches to the processes of the election. “Well, Obi’s an “opportunist” defined by vocabulary.com as, “One who sees a chance to gain some advantage from a situation, often at the expense of ethics or morals.”“To urbandictionary.com, an opportunist is, “One willing to befriend any person regardless of race, creed, gender, sexuality or socioeconomic status if the relationship benefits them directly or indirectly by improving their public image.” “What an apt description of Obi, who simply seizes on the current national discontent, disaffection, disappointment, disillusionment, dissatisfaction, dissonance, and disunity to fire up Nigerians, to join him in the race for 2023! “Remember where Obi comes from. When he decamped from the PDP to LP in May 2022, he’s confronted with the issue of “lack of political structure” to kickstart his run.“Other posers were: What did Obi achieve as governor (2006-2014)? What experience has he got to govern a complex country as Nigeria? As part of the old order, what new things are Obi bringing to the table? “The answers rest on these bywords: “A toothless animal is the first to arrive to eat of the fallen fruits.” “The morning shows the day.” “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.” “As you make your bed, so you must lie on it.” “Obi has risen early, to plan to succeed in the crucial 2023 election, so that he’d have cause to lie comfortably on his well-laid bed after the poll. It’s that simple!“Because Obi actually lacked the structure – physical and representative – to reach millions of eligible voters, he’d to first embark on an aggressive mobilisation, deploying modern tools of communication to maximum effect. “It’s to capture the youths, to buy into, and spread his “New Nigeria” message that stresses youth engagement, empowerment and development for a 21st century society. “Has Obi succeeded in this strategy? Absolutely! Like a wild fire, the youths have turned his (small) acorn into millions for a revolutionary change of the status quo.“Adopting the appellation of “ObIdients” for all supporters, the drivers of his campaign have segmented their operations into two: swarm the media space, and take over the political arena of the country. “Hence Obi leads on social media platforms, and political events and quasi-rallies, even as the Independent National Electoral Commission has yet to sanction electioneering.“As he tweets regularly to his followers, or comments on issues of concern to the public, Obi engages in several events, some taking him to more than one state, in a day. “He’s either attending seminars, workshops or meetings organised by political groups or professional bodies; paying homage or solidarity visits to persons or groups; or joining in worship at church services or crusades.“Obi presents himself as a different breed of politician, who’s prepared to engage Nigerians by highlighting the issues plaguing the country, and how he’ll solve them. “He isn’t afraid to speak to Nigeria’s economy, education and security, even as fact checkers query the alleged exaggerated or inaccurate examples, comparisons and figures he reels out to support his presentations.“And confronted on such “inaccuracies,” Obi has a ready response: “Go and verify,” knowing the very low reading culture in Nigeria, where even truth is a scarce commodity. “An unflattering saying is that, to hide something from a Nigerian, you put it in writing, in form of a book, as they won’t open, nor peruse it. So, with no appetite for reading, most Nigerians judge the content of a book by its cover.“The likes of Obi make un-informed, incorrect, imprecise, outlandish or even unfounded pronouncements because the audience, mainly of their supporters, won’t question their assertions. Rather, the captive listeners applaud and ovate every anecdote, innuendo, nuance and gesture. “The upside is that Obi controls his messaging by talking, engaging, and proffering solutions to problems. Whether the messaging makes sense is a different story. But his listeners’ enthusiastic receptions answer that poser!“Obi enjoys a rockstar status wherever he goes. His entry into a gathering causes excitement and commotion, as the attendees mob, hug and take selfies with him. And when he’s formally announced, a standing ovation takes over. “The other candidates only come out irregularly, or speak through surrogates – not to address the real issues at

JONATHAN, IT’S TIME TO GET BACK!

by Frank Tietie Cowards die many times before their deaths; The valiant never taste of death but once.Of all the wonders that I yet have heard,It seems to me most strange that men should fear;Seeing that death, a necessary end,Will come when it will come.”― William Shakespeare, Julius Caesar President Goodluck Jonathan will not be the first President to be reelected after defeat as an incumbent. However, he could probably be the first to cower in fear in the face of another clear, good-luck chance to be reelected as the 17th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It is time for Goodluck Jonathan to get back at his detractors who hounded him out of office despite his avowed commitment to national unity and entrenchment of enduring democratic values in Nigeria. That’s not being ‘foolish’ and laid back, it’s a show of strength and courage as a leader to make sacrificial decisions against self in the national interest. The odds cannot be presently better for a man whose onetime enemies across the North and South of Nigeria have not only repented and begged him for forgiveness but have become so disgruntled with Bola Tinubu’s presidency that they wish him to return as President. Whether or not it is for their selfish political agenda, the question remains which political agenda is not driven by self-interest, except the agenda that is less of self-interest and far better than barefaced lying, but deceiving and divisive kleptocrats who masqueraded themselves as messiahs. Never in Nigeria’s politics has one man been so lucky as Goodluck Jonathan, even when he was said to have blown up his first time as president, the present political conditions have now, by the unseen hand, orchestrated his comeback to be inevitable. Just imagine, entrenched Northern political bigwigs crying and begging for Jonathan to return as president to complete the Southern presidential turn because he would only serve one term? Thus, Northerners prefer Jonathan ten times to Peter Obi, who is not only seen as having utopian ideas but cannot be trusted to sustain interests. And when you think Southern governors, especially the chicken-hearted defecting ones, won’t support him, then remember that, like in the FCT-Abuja, there is less herd mentality in the politics of Southern Nigeria Therefore, if Peter Obi truly wants a better Nigeria that is realistically possible, he should be at the forefront of rooting for a Jonathan comeback, where he would be sure to play a revolutionary role with his ‘Obidient’ political economy. When a good man has a second chance to make amends after years of reflection, he will most likely do a better job. Politics with careless disregard for human rights and the rule of law, and an economy that inflicted pains and suffering after the Jonathan presidency only grew to worse at steroid-like speeds in the following years, has prepared the hearts and minds of Nigerians to receive a man they were deceived into working against in 2015. It’s indeed time for Jonathan to get back as President to do a better job than he once did before, and by so doing, punish his critics with pain and regrets for the lost years of what could have been a better Nigeria than the present. Therefore, Jonathan should not be afraid to contest in 2027 for the Presidency. It is rather the presidency that is presently afraid. He is not a coward and as Ijaw man can only die but once. He must therefore exercise that courage under fire and once again seize upon luck and turn the fortunes of Nigeria around with another round of massive goodwill from Nigerians.
