SENATOR NED NWOKO DUMPS PDP FOR APC TO PURSUE ANIOMA STATE CREATION

Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has announced plans to leave the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in pursuit of his long-held goal of creating Anioma State. According to sources, Nwoko convened a crucial consultative meeting with notable PDP members and stakeholders from opposition parties across his constituency to inform them of his decision. The meeting, which lasted for hours, was held at Nwoko’s country home in Idumuji-kpoko, Aniocha North. Victor Sorokwu, convener and leader of Ugo-Anioma, confirmed the development, stating that Nwoko sought their support to dump the PDP, which was unanimously agreed upon by all attendees. Sorokwu emphasized that Nwoko’s defection is aimed at actualizing the creation of Anioma State, rather than furthering his alleged 2027 governorship ambitions. “Nwoko had called for the meeting to solicit their support to dump PDP, which was unanimously agreed to by all and sundry who attended the meeting,” Sorokwu said. If Nwoko’s defection is successful, all three Delta State Senators in the National Assembly will belong to the ruling APC, potentially weakening the PDP’s stronghold in the state since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999. This development comes on the heels of Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, daughter of former governor James Ibori, defecting from the PDP to the APC.
