NDLEA ARRESTS LAGOS SOCIALITE, WANTED DRUG KINGPIN ALHAJA AISHAT FEYISARA AJOKE ELEDIYE
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has started the new year with a significant arrest, taking into custody a wanted drug kingpin and Lagos socialite, 61-year-old Alhaja Aishat Feyisara Ajoke Elediye. In a statement by the NDLEA Spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, Alhaja Ajoke, also known as “Iya Ruka” in the drug underworld and a respected figure in Lagos social circles, had managed to keep her true identity hidden for years while leading one of the drug cartels operating from Mushin area of Lagos. The breakthrough came on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, when NDLEA operatives intercepted a white Izuzu truck carrying 44 jumbo sacks containing 1,540 kilograms of imported cannabis. The truck was driven by 41-year-old Abideen Adio, one of Alhaja Ajoke’s staff. Following the interception, operatives stormed her mansion at 33 Adebayo Oyewole Street, off Ago Palace Way, Okota, where she was arrested. Babafemi revealed that Alhaja Ajoke’s legitimate business as a fabric and shoe importer from China served as a cover for her massive illicit drug trade. She is also recognized as the Iyalaje of Blessing Sisters, an influential club of society women in Lagos.
