SENATE GETS NEW SUBSTANTIVE CLERK AS NASC MAKES KEY APPOINTMENTS

The National Assembly Service Commission has confirmed Agada Rawlings Emmanuel as the new substantive Clerk of the Senate, effective June 26, 2025. Emmanuel, who had been serving in an acting capacity, was confirmed through a letter signed by NASC Executive Chairman, Chief Dr. Saviour Enyiekere, on June 27, 2025.

Alongside Emmanuel’s confirmation, the NASC announced a series of redeployments within the National Assembly. Emmanuel Odo, previously Deputy Clerk for Administration in the Senate, will now serve as Deputy Clerk for Legislative matters in the House of Representatives. Conversely, Vivian Njemanze, who held a similar role in the House, will take on the position of Deputy Clerk for Legislative affairs in the Senate.
Andrew Nwoba, who was appointed Clerk of the Senate in December 2024, has been reassigned to the Office of the Clerk to the National Assembly. These changes are part of a broader effort to strengthen the National Assembly’s leadership and improve its overall effectiveness.
The NASC’s decision to confirm Emmanuel and implement these redeployments underscores its commitment to enhancing the National Assembly’s functionality and leadership. With these new appointments, the Senate and House of Representatives are expected to operate more efficiently, driven by experienced personnel in key roles.
