IDI ARABA BUILDING COLLAPSE: THREE RESCUED, SEARCH OPERATIONS ONGOING

A building under construction at the one-storey level suddenly collapsed at 96 Ishaga Road, opposite Idi Araba Central Mosque, Mushin, Lagos, on Sunday. The distress call was received at approximately 15:30 hours.

Director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, said in a statement that responding agencies, including the Isolo Fire Station, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps, Lagos State Ambulance Service, and Nigeria Police, were swiftly mobilized to the scene. “Three adults male have been rescued alive with varying degrees of injury,” Adeseye said. They were attended to at the scene before being transferred to the hospital for further treatment.

Margaret Adeseye added that search and rescue operations are still ongoing. “Search and rescue operations are still ongoing. The cause of the emergency is currently under investigation,” she said. Adeseye’s team is working tirelessly to ensure all trapped individuals are rescued.

The incident has raised concerns about building safety and regulatory oversight in Lagos. As rescue operations continue, the cause of the collapse remains under investigation.
