SIX KIDNAPPERS KILLED IN DELTA STATE POLICE OPERATION
The Delta State Police Command has announced the killing of six suspected kidnappers and the arrest of several others in recent operations in parts of the state. According to the command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police Bright Edafe, the operations were carried out by the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Squad and the Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team. On July 12, the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Squad, led by Chief Superintendent of Police Godwin Osadolor, trailed suspected kidnappers to Ogwashi-Uku in Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state. During the operation, a suspected kidnapper, Sanusi Abdullahi, was arrested with N5m, which was allegedly part of the ransom taken from one of their victims. Edafe claimed that Abdullahi and his gang had been responsible for a series of kidnappings in and around Ogwashi-Uku, Ubulu-Uku, Ibusa, and Issele-Azagba. Abdullahi allegedly led the policemen to their hideout, where four other suspects were arrested. In a separate operation on July 9, along the Patani/Ughelli highway, operatives of the Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team raided the hideout of a gang of suspected kidnappers. During the operation, the suspects engaged the operatives in a fierce gun duel, during which they sustained serious gunshot injuries. Edafe said the suspects were taken to a hospital, where six of them were confirmed dead, while two others are still receiving treatment. Exhibits recovered from them include four locally made guns and 19 rounds of live cartridges. The police spokesperson said the suspects included Solomon Danisco (alias Piccolo), Nelson Jacob, Oruma Saturday, Olise Jude, Precious Urhobowin, and Whisky Rufus (alias Asawana), a native of Ewu.
