SOUTH SOUTH APC ENDORSES TINUBU, FOUR GOVERNORS FOR SECOND TERM

The South South chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and four governors from the region for a second term in office. The endorsement was made at the APC South South stakeholders’ meeting held in Benin City, where party leaders and delegates from across the region gathered to review the political landscape and strategize for the future. The four governors endorsed are Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, Bassey Otu of Cross River State, and Monday Okpebholo of Edo State. According to the APC National Vice Chairman (South South), Hon. Victor Gaidom, the governors have demonstrated remarkable leadership and performance in their respective states, making them worthy of reelection. “We are united in our support for President Tinubu and our governors,” Gaidom said, announcing the unanimous decision of the stakeholders. The stakeholders also praised President Tinubu’s efforts in economic reform, infrastructure development, and national security, pledging their unwavering support for his reelection bid. Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who is also the APC leader in the South South, urged the zone to support President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and ensure he is returned to office in 2027. “Let us bury division and rally behind the APC, the only party with the structure, vision, and leadership to transform Nigeria,” Akpabio said. Governor Oborevwori, who was represented at the meeting by his deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, is expected to benefit significantly from the endorsement, which sets the tone for intensified preparations toward securing a second term in office. The APC’s endorsement of both President Tinubu and the four governors in the region is seen as a consolidation of the party’s base and a build-up of early momentum ahead of the next electoral cycle.

APC CONVENES SOUTH-SOUTH SUMMIT IN EDO STATE TO STRATEGIZE ON RENEWED HOPE AGENDA

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to hold a high-level South-South Summit in Edo State, aimed at consolidating its political vision under the Renewed Hope Agenda and charting a strategic pathway for the party’s future across the South-South geopolitical zone. The summit, themed “Renewed Hope in Action: Strengthening APC Mobilization and Governance in the South South,” will serve as a unifying platform for policy dialogue, political recalibration, and regional reawakening. Scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the Victor Uwaifo Centre Hub in Benin City, the summit will bring together distinguished party stakeholders, including current and former officeholders from the South-South region. These stakeholders include serving and past governors, deputy governors, members of the National Assembly, ministers, and key figures from the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Working Committee (NWC). According to party sources, the summit will provide an opportunity to assess the party’s structural cohesion in the South-South, reflect on recent electoral dynamics, and formulate a forward-looking blueprint to strengthen the APC’s presence and political influence in the zone. The summit will also deliberate on mechanisms for deepening grassroots engagement, enhancing intra-party unity, and delivering tangible democratic dividends to citizens of the region. The APC’s commitment to inclusive dialogue, strategic consensus-building, and the mobilization of experience across generations of APC leadership in the South-South is underscored by the convocation of such a wide spectrum of leadership. As the region remains a critical frontier in Nigeria’s political calculus, the summit is expected to generate robust conversations around party consolidation, governance priorities, and the strategic repositioning of the APC ahead of future electoral cycles. “The Summit will provide an opportunity to assess the party’s structural cohesion in the South-South, reflect on recent electoral dynamics, and formulate a forward-looking blueprint to strengthen the APC’s presence and political influence in the zone,” party sources said. The summit is expected to commence at 10 am and will feature discussions on key issues affecting the party and the region. With the Renewed Hope Agenda as its guiding philosophy, the APC aims to deepen its roots in the South-South and deliver meaningful development to the people.
