NIGERIAN AIR FORCE ADDRESSES CLASH WITH POLICE IN DELTA STATE

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has addressed the recent altercation between its personnel and police officers in Warri, Delta State, which occurred on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. According to the NAF, the incident has been “decisively addressed” and measures are being taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

The clash reportedly occurred when Air Force personnel intercepted police officers transporting a suspect found in possession of substances suspected to be codeine, Indian hemp, and Canadian loud. The Air Force personnel, who allegedly knew the suspect, demanded the suspect’s release, and when the police officers refused, they were attacked.

The state police spokesperson, SP Edafe Bright, described the clash as “unfortunate” and assured the public that the matter was being addressed. “This issue is being handled. We recognise the cordial relationship we have with the Nigerian Air Force in Delta State,” he said.

The NAF has also confirmed that the injured police officers have received medical attention, and the Air Force personnel involved are undergoing disciplinary procedures in accordance with military regulations. The Air Force has reiterated its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of conduct and fostering harmonious relationships with sister agencies.

As stated by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Olusola F Akinboyewa, “The NAF remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of conduct and fostering harmonious relationships with sister agencies in the collective pursuit of national security and public safety”.
