EDO FIRST LADY RECEIVES UMAGBAE N’ EDO, EMPHASIZES IMPORTANCE OF UNITY AMONG WOMEN

The Edo State Government, through the Office of the First Lady, led by Coordinator Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, has emphasized the importance of unity as an indispensable aspect of growth and development. This was during an engagement with members of the Umagbae N’ Edo-Daughters of Benin Kingdom, at the Government House, Benin City. Mrs. Anani, who warmly received the guests, urged them to imbibe the spirit of unity and speak with one voice. “Thank you for coming, for felicitating with us in our first 100 days in office. Thank you for standing with us in this administration under Senator Monday Okpebholo.” “The unity we speak about should not just be a mere word; it should be practical. By God’s grace, under this administration, under my watch, as long as I am here, we will preach unity, one voice for women. Our voices should be heard in this State,” Mrs. Anani said. She highlighted the place of unity in women’s empowerment and emancipation while emphasizing the importance of establishing collaboration among women. “I’m glad to see a group of women coming together to unite other women. I’m sure you are from all walks of life, and speaking in one voice. What’s more, I always ask, what is your agenda? What do you intend to achieve? It’s not just about saying we are here; what do you intend to achieve as a group?” “It’s essential that our women unite. It’s not just about you; it’s about uniting everybody. It’s a collective effort from one senatorial district to another. We are all one because our problems are the same, our agitation is one and the same, our goal should be one and the same,” Mrs. Anani said. The President of the delegates, Mrs. Patience Asuen, praised Mrs. Anani’s dedication to supporting women in the State. “We thank you for your resilience and unwavering commitment to the cause of women and the State at large. Your dedication to empowering women, promoting gender equality, is truly inspiring. We admire your leadership and vision in advancing important issues.”

EDO FIRST LADY VISITS JOOPSA, EMPHASIZES TRAINING AND CAPACITY BUILDING FOR CIVIL AND PUBLIC SERVANTS

The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, has commended Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for his efforts to revive the state’s civil and public service. Mrs. Anani made the remarks during a courtesy visit to the Director General of the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA), Mrs. Gina Otamere, in Benin City. Mrs. Anani praised Mrs. Otamere for her dedication to championing training for civil and public servants, social welfare, women, children, and youths. “It is good to know what you do at JOOPSA. It is good to have you at the helm of affairs because I know how professional you are,” Mrs. Anani said. She also commended the Governor Okpebholo-led administration for extending opportunities to serve in governance to the Edo people. “It is also good to know what the Governor is doing, enhancing his own people. In the past, we had outsiders, foreigners, consultants taking the job of civil and public servants and almost making our workforce redundant. However, we are hardworking people, and it is time we take ownership of our roles.” Mrs. Anani emphasized the importance of training and retraining in enhancing productivity. “With the mandate we have now, and you have, you have been saddled with that responsibility by His Excellency, the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo. Your task is to revive the civil service, train and retrain, and make them grow on the job, becoming more productive, efficient, and hardworking.” In response, Mrs. Otamere appreciated Mrs. Anani for her visit and reaffirmed her commitment to abide by the policy statements of the Governor Okpebholo-led administration. “This is John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy, saddled with the responsibility of providing capacity building, training programs for civil and public service in Edo State. Our main focus this year is to work in line with Mr. Governor’s policy statements.” Mrs. Otamere emphasized that Edo State will no longer use consultants in line with the Senator Monday Okpebholo-led administration’s policy. “Our focus is developing those functional skills across the civil and public service to enable civil servants to be self-sufficient, carry out their role and responsibilities, and we are looking at building capacity among staff that will enable them to perform effectively and efficiently on their jobs.”

GOVERNOR MONDAY OKPEBHOLO’S 100 DAYS IN OFFICE MARKED WITH PRAISE AND FANFARE

At an event held at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub in Benin City, the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, praised the Governor’s policies and programs, particularly those aimed at empowering women and promoting their welfare. “I am here to represent the female gender. We are here to say thank you for what you have done in 100 days, for all the constructions and policies you have made. We thank you for the appointments so far, and for empowering our women,” Mrs. Anani said. She also expressed gratitude to the Governor for addressing insecurity and cultism in the state, saying “we no longer have to bury our children in their prime.” Governor Okpebholo, in his address, reaffirmed his commitment to transforming Edo State through policies and programs aimed at raising the standard of living, boosting the economy, and ensuring quality healthcare. “Looking ahead, the future of Edo State under my leadership is bright, as evidenced in the progress we have made together. With our economic development plan, we will prioritize agricultural infrastructure and investment in youths’ skills development as the State strives to become one of the leading economies in Nigeria,” he said. The Governor also highlighted his administration’s achievements, including the launch of an interest-free loan scheme for market women, farmers, and artisans, which will benefit over 5,000 people in collaboration with the World Bank. The event featured the unveiling of Project SHINE, representing the five-point agenda of the administration, as well as a lecture on practical governance, cultural display, and musical performance by Timi Dakolo. It’s worth noting that Governor Okpebholo has also initiated the renovation and reconstruction of 100 schools across the state, as part of his administration’s commitment to education. The Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board, Mrs. Onomen Brigg, revealed that the renovation projects, including classroom repairs, furniture provision, and security enhancements, will be completed within one to three weeks.

EDO FIRST LADY HONORS COUPLE WITH HER PRESENCE AT WEDDING CEREMONY

In a show of support for family values and community development, the Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, graced the wedding ceremony of Edowaye Hilda Ihenyen and Isaac Igenebale Ebare, held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Ugbowo, in Ovia North East Local Government, Edo State. Mrs. Anani’s congratulatory message to the newlyweds underscored the significance of marriage as a sacred institution. “Marriage is a divine union that serves as the foundation of society, and it is essential that we cherish and respect it,” she said. The ceremony was also attended by the parents of the bride and groom, who were overjoyed by the union of their children. They expressed their gratitude to God and prayed for the couple’s success and happiness in their marital journey. Prof. Osagie Dawodu, chairman of the occasion, offered words of wisdom to the couple, emphasizing the importance of faith in navigating the challenges of married life. “In every marriage, storms will arise, but with Jesus as your anchor, you will overcome them and enjoy a blessed and fulfilling union,” he advised. The wedding ceremony was dignified by the presence of several high-profile guests, including government officials and prominent community leaders.
