EDO STATE GOVERNOR SIGNS BILL TO ESTABLISH NEW COLLEGE OF NURSING, HEALTH SCIENCES
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has signed into law a bill for the establishment of Edo State College of Nursing, Health Sciences and Technology. The Governor signed the bill in his office in Government House Benin City, stating that the school will open up the area for growth and development, as well as create employment opportunities for the Edo people. Chief Press Secretary Fred Itua, in a statement, quoted Governor Okpebholo as saying, “Let me congratulate the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA) for this bill they recently passed and have now brought to my office today for assent.” Fred Itua noted that the Governor expressed gratitude for the working synergy between the legislative and executive arms of the State government. Governor Okpebholo appreciated the harmonious relationship between the two arms, stressing that it will aid rapid development and growth in the State. “Our relationship will enable us work for Edo people. I assure you that we will work hard together to improve the lives of Edo people,” Okpebholo said. Fred Itua added that the bill will create an atmosphere for the establishment of the school, making Edo State an envy of other states in the Federation. The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, commended the Governor for embarking on developmental projects to improve the lives of Edo people. Hon. Agbebaku said, “Members of the 8th House of Assembly are in your office today. Last Month, a letter was sent to us in the EDHA in pursuit of your developmental stride, a law was sent to us in the house to enact Edo State College of Nursing, Health Sciences and Technology Law, Udomi, 2025 and other matters connected therewith.” Fred Itua concluded that the Governor’s assent to the bill is a welcome development for the people of Udomi, Uwessan, and Edo State in general.
