NIGERIA SEEKS GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP TO ERADICATE TERRORISM AND CRIME

The Federal Government of Nigeria has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the United States and other countries to completely eliminate remnants of terrorists and criminal elements operating within its borders. This announcement was made by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a world press conference held in Abuja on Wednesday.

While acknowledging that Nigeria continues to grapple with security challenges, Idris clarified that such threats are not targeted at any specific religion or ethnic group, contrary to claims based on what he described as “faulty data.” He emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing these issues impartially.

According to Idris, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated renewed dedication to tackling insecurity over the past two years. This effort is reflected in Nigeria’s improved ranking on the Global Terrorism Index and the recent overhaul of the nation’s security leadership. “President Tinubu’s administration is steadfast in its mission to restore peace and security,” Idris stated.

The minister appealed to the United States and other partner nations to continue supporting President Tinubu’s initiatives. “We urge our international allies to stand with us as we work to rid Nigeria of terrorists and criminals who are making life difficult for our citizens,” he said. This collaboration is seen as crucial for achieving lasting stability and safety across the country.
