President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his condolences to the families of victims, the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), United Capital, and United Bank of Africa (UBA) Plc following a fire outbreak at Afriland Towers on Broad Street, Lagos Island on Tuesday. Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), Bayo Onanuga, issued a statement on Thursday expressing the President’s sympathies.

Onanuga conveyed Tinubu’s commiserations to management and staff of Afriland Properties Limited, FIRS, United Capital, UBA, and particularly those who lost loved ones, as well as the injured receiving medical attention. “The President commends the emergency responders, including the Federal Fire Service, first aiders, medical personnel, and members of the public, for their quick intervention and notes their deep sense of responsibility during the evacuation,” Onanuga stated.

Tinubu advised more caution, training, and alertness to prevent future emergencies, praying for the souls of the departed and quick recovery of the injured. Bayo Onanuga noted the President’s sentiments. Onanuga further highlighted Tinubu’s expression of sorrow over the loss of lives, including United Capital staff among the victims.
