DECOMPOSED BODY FOUND IN CAR PARKED OUTSIDE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY COMPLEX IN ABUJA

A gruesome discovery was made outside the National Assembly Complex in Abuja on Sunday, September 7, when the decomposed remains of a 55-year-old man were found inside a vehicle parked near the annex gate. The deceased, identified as Gaddafi Iwar, a labourer working at a construction site within the National Assembly premises, was discovered in a red Peugeot 406 with registration number BWR-577 BF. According to sources, the vehicle had been parked at the same spot for several days before the grim discovery was made at about 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. “The body was evacuated to the National Assembly Clinic for medical confirmation and later conveyed to Asokoro General Hospital, but was rejected due to advanced decomposition,” a source said. The body was eventually taken to Gbawu Village, a border town between AMAC and Kuje Area Council, for burial to prevent a health hazard. “The Tiv community and youth leaders eventually took the body to Gbawu Village… for burial,” another source added. The incident has raised serious concerns about security and public health within the area, with many questioning how a decomposing body in a parked car went undetected for so long in such a sensitive environment. The National Assembly Complex is one of the country’s most heavily guarded institutions, where vehicles and individuals typically undergo strict security checks before entry.
