FOUR SUSPECTED BANDITS APPREHENDED FOLLOWING ERUKU COMMUNITY ATTACK (VIDEO)

In a coordinated response, Eruku local vigilantes, working with police and hunters, have arrested four suspected bandits following a violent attack on the community around November 19, 2025. The incident saw armed men attempt to invade Eruku in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, resulting in a fierce gun battle. During the assault, two residents lost their lives and a vigilante member sustained injuries. An unspecified number of worshippers were also reportedly abducted from a local church. In the aftermath, the Eruku vigilantes and hunters launched a search-and-rescue operation which led to the apprehension of the four suspects and the recovery of stolen cattle. The attack has sparked significant concern among residents, who are now calling on the government to provide their vigilantes with weapons. Residents have also accused some police operatives of inaction during the attack. In response to the community’s fears, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police visited Eruku to reassure the populace. The Commissioner held sessions with local leaders and vigilante groups aimed at enhancing future collaboration. The police command has confirmed that an intensive manhunt is currently underway to rescue the abducted victims and apprehend all remaining criminals involved in the recent security breaches in the area.
