President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja after a nearly two-week diplomatic visit to Japan and Brazil. The presidential jet touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 1:20 am local time on Thursday.

During his visit, Tinubu participated in the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Japan, where African leaders and Japan discussed economic transformation and stability on the continent. He also held bilateral meetings with Japanese leaders and engaged with business executives, securing fresh commitments in areas such as technology transfer, renewable energy, power, infrastructure, and manufacturing.

Following the summit in Japan, Tinubu made a brief stopover in Dubai before proceeding to Brazil, where he met with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The two leaders witnessed the signing of five Memoranda of Understanding covering aviation, foreign affairs, science and technology, and agriculture—key sectors in Nigeria’s development agenda.

The presidency says the deals signed during the two-day state visit to Brazil reflect Nigeria’s development agenda. Tinubu was received by top government officials and dignitaries upon his return to Abuja. The visit aimed to strengthen relations between Nigeria and Brazil, and the agreements signed are expected to boost Nigeria’s economic growth and development.
