NIGERIA TO HOST 2025 WEST AFRICA ECONOMIC SUMMIT IN ABUJA

Nigeria has been chosen to host the 2025 West Africa Economic Summit (WAES) in Abuja from June 20 to 21. The summit, themed “Unlocking Trade and Investment Opportunities in the Region,” aims to foster deeper economic integration and development across West Africa. President Bola Tinubu made the announcement on his official social media handle, stating that the event is a bold step toward a prosperous, integrated West Africa powered by trade, innovation, and the region’s most valuable asset – its people. According to President Tinubu, the summit aligns with Nigeria’s foreign policy priorities of advancing people, prosperity, and the country’s global standing. The event is expected to bring together Heads of State, CEOs, global investors, entrepreneurs, youth innovators, and development partners to chart a path for sustainable growth and regional integration. Key highlights of the summit will include a Presidential Roundtable, a Deal Room for investment opportunities, and sessions focused on youth empowerment and regional project partnerships. President Tinubu extended an open invitation to the global community, stating, “I invite the world to join us in Abuja as we build a stronger, more unified, and globally competitive West Africa.” The President emphasized the significance of the summit, saying, “Two years ago, I pledged to champion a foreign policy prioritizing our people, our prosperity, and our place in the world. Today, I am proud to announce the West Africa Economic Summit 2025.” The event promises to be a platform for transformative action, where vision meets action.
