Renowned R&B singer Angie Stone, known for her soulful voice and hit single “Wish I Didn’t Miss You,” has passed away at the age of 63. According to her representative, Stone died in a car crash in Montgomery, Alabama, while driving home from a show.

Stone’s daughter, Diamond Stone, took to social media to express her grief, writing, “My mommy is gone.” Stone’s death has sent shockwaves through the music industry, with fans and fellow artists paying tribute to her legacy.

Born in Columbia, South Carolina, in 1961, Stone began her music career in the late 1970s as a founding member of the groundbreaking female hip-hop trio The Sequence. The group scored a hit with “Funk You Up,” which was later sampled by Dr. Dre and Bruno Mars.

After The Sequence disbanded, Stone went on to work as a vocalist for Vertical Hold and Devox, before providing songwriting credits to D’Angelo and backing vocals for Lenny Kravitz. Her debut solo album, “Black Diamond,” was released in 1999 and featured the hits “No More Rain (In This Cloud)” and “Life Story”.

Throughout her career, Stone was nominated for three Grammys and wrote songs for Erykah Badu and Raphael Saadiq. She also worked as an actor, appearing in films like “The Hot Chick” and “The Fighting Temptations,” as well as on stage in the musical “Chicago”.

Stone’s legacy extends far beyond her music. As a pioneering female artist in the hip-hop and R&B genres, she paved the way for future generations of women in music. Her passing is a tremendous loss, but her music and spirit will continue to inspire and uplift fans around the world.
