SUPER EAGLES ARRIVE IN SOUTH AFRICA WITHOUT OSIMHEN FOR WORLD CUP QUALIFIER

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have arrived in Bloemfontein, South Africa, ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against the Bafana Bafana, but without their star striker, Victor Osimhen. Osimhen sustained an injury during Friday’s encounter against Rwanda’s Amavubi in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, and was forced off in the 37th minute, replaced by Cyril Dessers.

Despite Osimhen’s absence, the Super Eagles secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Rwanda thanks to a decisive strike from Tolu Arokodare. However, team doctors confirmed on Sunday morning that Osimhen’s injury had worsened and become swollen, ruling him out of the match against South Africa.

The must-win tie in Bloemfontein is seen as a major test for the Eagles, who will now have to rely on their attacking depth in the absence of their prolific striker. The team will look to Dessers and other attacking options to fill the void left by Osimhen and secure a positive result against South Africa.
