PRESIDENT TINUBU APPROVES POSTING FOR THREE AMBASSADORS-DESIGNATE, NOTES TURKEY POSTING UNDER REVIEW

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the first set of postings for ambassadors-designate, naming envoys for France, the United States, and the United Kingdom. In a statement, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, clarified that the posting of an ambassador to Turkey is still under review following a recent naming mix-up. The Special Adviser stated that President Tinubu confirmed the posting of Ambassador Ayodele Oke as the ambassador-designate to France and Colonel Lateef Are as the ambassador-designate to the United States of America. The President also approved the posting of Ambassador Amin Dalhatu, a former ambassador to South Korea, as the high commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom. Onanuga noted that, in a memo to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Tinubu directed the ministry to notify the governments of the three countries about the appointments in accordance with diplomatic procedures. These postings represent the first assignments from a pool of 68 ambassadors-designate confirmed by the Senate in December. Bayo Onanuga further clarified that no ambassador has been assigned to Turkey at this time, as that specific posting remains under review.
