PASTOR ARRESTED OVER ALLEGED DEHUMANIZATION OF MINORS IN RIVERS STATE – VIDEO

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a 41-year-old pastor, Ifediorah Onyeibor Joseph, in connection with the alleged dehumanization of minors in his church. The arrest followed a distressing online video that circulated on social media, showing the minors being subjected to what appears to be a form of “spiritual cleaning”. In a statement, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said the police command took swift action upon receiving the information and arrested the pastor and several church members at the scene. Iringe-Koko said preliminary investigations revealed that Pastor Joseph allegedly organized a 3-day program for children in his church, purportedly for “spiritual cleaning”, claiming to have been inspired by the Holy Spirit. The police are currently conducting a thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident. Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, urged the public to remain calm and peaceful while the investigation is ongoing. Adepoju also urged members of the public to report any suspicious activities or concerns to the nearest police station or other security agencies. “The Command will continue to work tirelessly to address any issues that may compromise the security and dignity of individuals within our State,” Adepoju said. Iringe-Koko said further updates will be made public as more information becomes available. The police command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens, particularly vulnerable populations such as minors.
